Meet Transcripts Privacy Policy

Effective October 3, 2026 · Applies to extension version 0.4 and later

In short: Meet Transcripts reads the text of Google Meet's live captions on your screen and saves it as a Google Doc in your own Google Drive. It records no audio or video, has no servers of its own, and shares nothing with AhMath Learning Center or anyone else.

Who we are

Meet Transcripts is a Chrome extension made by AhMath Learning Center ("we"). Contact: ahmathlc@gmail.com. This policy covers only the extension. The AhMath LC website and learning platform are covered by the AhMath LC Privacy Policy.

What the extension accesses

It does not access your microphone, camera, screen, other websites, your browsing history, or Meet chat messages. It only posts the transcription notice in the chat.

How it's used

Only to create the transcript document you asked for, show it to you in the extension, and save it to your Google Drive. We do not use the data for advertising, analytics, profiling, training AI, or any other purpose, and we never sell it.

Where it's stored

Google API data

The extension uses the Google Drive permission drive.file, which only lets it see and manage files it created itself. Its use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Sign-in tokens are kept in browser memory and removed when Chrome closes.

Sharing

We share no data with anyone. A transcript is shared only if you share the Doc yourself, or ask the extension to share it with a colleague in your school domain.

Retention and deletion

You can delete any transcript in Google Drive at any time, and delete unsaved transcripts from the extension. You can optionally have transcripts moved to the Drive trash automatically after 30 days to 1 year. Uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored on your computer; your Drive documents stay until you delete them.

Students and children

The extension is intended for teachers and school staff using school Google accounts, not for students. Meetings may include students, whose words can appear in the captions. Teachers are prompted to inform participants, and each transcript records how they were informed. Meet Transcripts is designed to support FERPA/COPPA-conscious use; compliance depends on your school's data agreements and policies, and your school should review its use.

Security

All connections to Google use HTTPS. The extension's security policy blocks connections to anything other than Google APIs, and no code is loaded from outside the extension.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above will change. A change that affects how data is handled will be described in the extension's release notes.
